Nishe (Alt-Rock)

This band from The Island has been in inspiration to me. They have inspired me to inquire into the morals and standards of conduct on the use of Twitter. Nothing about posting pictures while drunk with a burning joint hanging out of your mouth and a pile of Peruvian Yellow on a glass surfaced table in the background. This is aimed at the practice of hit and running. Some users of Twitter will follow, send a DM, then unfollow after you follow them back. I reckon the aim is to have many more followers than one is following as if to paint a picture that one has grown so popular without needing any follow backs. It must work or folks wouldn’t be doing it.

I did a little search on following and unfollowing ethics on Twitter and the only results were aimed mostly at journalists. I am too lazy to read any of them since I am not a professional journalist. I reckon that there is no need for rules and we are all free to use any method available to paint whatever picture we are able of ourselves on Twitter and social media in general. It’s pretty much a boomtown out in the wild west of yesteryears.

I would be lying if I wrote that it didn’t perturb me that a band followed me, then sent me a message to check their stuff out, then unfollow me a couple days later.  If I had not like the band’s music, I would have laughed it off and just figured it a blessing not to be associated with them by any means including being followed by them. This is not the case here. This is a good sounding band. Not groundbreaking fresh to me, but a band that is very good at what they do. So my pride took a hit and I learned a little about my ego.

I’m also grateful that they didn’t invite me to be friends with them on Facebook with a link supplied that would only allow me to be a follower on Facebook. That is like inviting me over for dinner and not having enough room in the house for me so you hand me a plate of food at the front door and promptly close the door to my face. I am laughing here and know this is being somewhat anal, but that is the truth of me and what I feel before I let it go into nothingness.

To any followers out there: I want to eat at your table and want you to eat at mine. I desire engagement as towards unlearning and learning.

I like this band’s creations. Their punishment for perturbing me with their Twitter practices is there will be no direct links…..:)

“Music: breathing of statues.

Perhaps:
silence of paintings. You language where all language ends. You time standing vertically on the motion of mortal hearts.

Feelings for whom?

O you the transformation of feelings into what?  –: into audible landscape.
You stranger: music. You heart-space
grown out of us. The deepest space in us,
which, rising above us, forces its way out,–
holy departure:
when the innermost point in us stands
outside, as the most practiced distance, as the other side of the air:
pure,
boundless,
no longer habitable.”
