Sturgill Simpson (Revisited)

A Sailor’s Guide to Earth, Sturgill’s new album is scheduled to be released on tax day of this year. Brace For Impact is the first song being promoted off the album and it simply rocks. This tune scrapes star dust from the blue side of the moon and sprinkles it all over the earth. If an accusation were made that I am biased due to Sturgill being from the mountains of Kentucky against me, I would have plead guilty with pleasure. No matter where an artist comes from, when they can yell in key, they will get my attention and affection and Sturgill can yell in key with the best of them. Here is a (link) to a previous post on Sturgill from 2014.  Also thanks to Cousin Dirk for sharing this new release with me.

“When you swim you don’t grab hold of the water, because if you do you will sink and drown. Instead you relax, and float. And the attitude of faith is the very opposite of clinging to belief, of holding on. In other words, a person who is fanatic in matters of religion, and clings to certain ideas about the nature of God and the universe, becomes a person who has no faith at all. Instead they are holding tight. But the attitude of faith is to let go, and become open to truth, whatever it might turn out to be.”
