FIDLAR (F It Dog Lifes A Risk)

FIDLAR is my band of the day. They are from Los Angeles, California. This four person band creates some outstanding surf/skate punk rock. Punk can come in many forms, but in the end, it comes down to two forms, and that is great and crap. Albion, a punk band, that I posted about last week, might get run off stage, opening up for FIDLAR. The same might be said if the lineup were reversed. They both create both sounds, one more raw, and one more refined. One is about the love of vices and the other about Anarchy. They both deserve more ears.

FIDLAR likes to sing about partying and I would surmise that a few of their fans like to partake as well. I would imagine the smells at a live show, would smell like the innards of  Willy Nelson’s tour bus. Well, when I think about it, there probably aren’t to many live shows, that smell like a doctors office, except for the one pain management office; I was referred to. That’s a story, you may have to pay for one day.

I won’t turn this into a Henry Rollin’s public service announcement, since nobody is gonna listen anyways.  I am about the music, and this music flat out rocks.  Their music is like punk in general, and it is all over the place in a good way. One track,  I hear  a little Hives. The next track, I hear some Beach Boys.  I even thought of the Doors during a couple. Mind you, that it is bits and pieces, not the whole tracks.  Trying to pick three songs to share from FIDLAR is like trying to pick the best three chips out of a Pounder bag of Lays Sour Cream and Cheddar.  I am talking lots of flavor, for there is nothing plain about their creations.

The band consists of Zac Carper on vocals and guitar.  Brandon Schwartzel is on bass. Elvis Kuehn plays guitar and his brother, Max, is the drummer. One interesting tidbit, is how it seems, hardcore fans of the band get FIDLAR tattoos.  Who knows, it might take off and be a fad like Pet Rocks. Although. Pet Rocks were a little easier to part with.

The first video “West Coast” is about drugs. The second video “Cheap Beer” is about beer. The third video “No Waves” is about drugs.

FIDLAR website I see many up and coming bands using blog sites like this. Smart way to communicate with their fans, and it helps some avoid the Facebook post tax.
